Battalion Chief, Charlotte Fire Dept. NC
Kelvin Brim is a battalion chief with the Charlotte Fire Department; in his current role he directs fire department operations within the North Charlotte region. As a fire service leader, Kelvin’s leadership philosophy is germane to that of a Servant-Leader: a leader that strives to enrich the lives of individuals — a leader that values contributions of others — a leader that cultivates a culture of trust with mutual respect — a leader that develops and nurtures future leaders.
Kelvin has 24 years of experience in the fire service, throughout his career he has garnered a wealth of knowledge serving on various committees, teams, and groups both internally and externally of the department. He is an advocate of civic engagement; for his service in the community, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for outstanding contributions to the community, above and beyond the normal call of duty. As a certified State of North Carolina Level III Fire Instructor, he has taught a multitude of topics that includes, but not limited to leadership and career development.
Kelvin holds a Master of Science degree in Fire Service Administration from Arizona State University; a Bachelor of Science Engineering Technology in Fire Safety Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; and is a certified Level IV Fire Officer in the State of North Carolina.
