Cultural Humility and Inclusive Leadership

The United States Census Bureau reports the country is becoming more diverse and will continue to do so. Birth rates in the US are declining. The future demand for labor will exceed the supply of workers. Therefore, everyone from the CEO down to the entry- level employee will need cultural humility to successfully attract a diverse workforce and to interact with an increasingly diverse customer-base. Leaders will need to embody the traits of an Inclusive Leader to retain a diverse workforce. In this session we will discuss the shortfalls of cultural competency. We will explore why cultural humility is a better goal to connect with your workforce and community. Cultural humility helps us to better understand ourselves in the context of our own community in order to engage with people from other cultures to develop more meaningful partnerships and connections. We will delve into the six traits of an inclusive leader. Inclusive leaders work to ensure that everyone feels they are treated respectfully and fairly, are valued and sense that they belong, and are confident and inspired.
