The City of Charlotte is excited to host its fourth Diversity Equity and Inclusion Conference in November 2023. The Charlotte Diversity Equity and Inclusion Conference will be held in North Carolina; on November 5-8, 2023, we plan to bring together a diverse group of people and presenters who are subject matter experts in their respective fields. When most people envision a “Diversity Equity and Inclusion Conference” they tend to think about issues surrounding race and gender. While race and gender demographics are certainly part of this dialogue, this conference will promote a multi-faceted discussion including recruitment, legal issues, cultural diversity, and human relations.
The climate is continuously changing; an overall goal and theme of the conference is “What you permit you promote”. We all like comfort zones and tend to guide our organizations by conducting “business as usual”. However, that which feels comfortable can often stagnate and hinder organizational growth. Success mandates that we cannot keep doing things the same way and expect different results. As part of this conference, we will explore ways to breakdown both organizational and personal barriers that relate to diversity and inclusion so we can fully identify obstacles to both organizational and personal success.
This conference has had 3 successful events and we hope to continue that trend, with your support. All stakeholders are committed to the following:
Developing programs that increase the awareness of cultural diversity, improve human relations, and foster equal opportunity and affirmative action
Create an environment free of discrimination, harassment and intimidation
Assure each individual has the opportunity to achieve his/her highest potential
Establish an atmosphere that instills ethical practices and produces quality leadership

This conference is designed for public safety employees, corporate leaders, human resources and government officials to exchange insights and concepts about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and what are the best practices across multiple industries.
The conference participants will benefit from lectures and informal opportunities to have conversations and see what other organizations are experiencing. It will provide a foundation to hear success stories and examine the various facets of how we can overcome and improve diversity and inclusion within our own organizations. Our guest speakers will discuss issues ranging from how we define diversity, recruitment efforts to improve diversity, legal issues and a many more topics.
Change is a constant and it’s important for professionals to always be learning and networking with peers about the best practices within the workforce.
